Happy New Year, TLP family!
I hope everyone is celebrating the new year alongside your two- and four-legged loved ones with plenty of time set aside to rest and recharge. But more than anything, I hope you can find a few moments to reflect on all the good you gave the world at a time that needed kindness and care more than ever.
In 2022, the doors opened again, ushering us into a world of challenges that rescue organizations have never seen before. With workers returning to their offices in mass, dog and cat returns flooded North Texas shelters. Adding to this strain were price increases for everything from utilities and gas to dog food and veterinary care. In addition, pet owners faced unforeseen circumstances, such as getting laid off from jobs, struggling with symptoms of flu and covid, losing homes due to rent increases, and moving to places with breed restrictions.
It was a difficult year. But in the face of these tremendous obstacles, The Love Pit not only persevered, we flourished. With our amazing team of supporters, donors, volunteers, and adopters, we were able to beat fear with hope. We beat cynicism with spunk. We beat divisiveness with determination. Most importantly, we defeated the misguided idea that in times like these, we should be satisfied with less, that good enough is good enough, and that better just isn’t possible.
Well, my friends, we are The Love Pit. And where there is love, better is always possible. As 2022 comes to an end, I’m incredibly proud to share and celebrate our impact with you!
Looking to the year ahead, I can be sure of two things. The first is that the demands and challenges of the last 12 months aren’t going anywhere. The second is that your passion and perseverance will see us through, which is why I’ve never felt more optimistic about the road ahead. I cannot thank you enough, nor can the dogs, for everything you’ve accomplished - and everything you’ll achieve in the year ahead.
Now let’s do what we do best and #savethepitbull!
