Solo Fosters Welcome
Found a dog without the support of a rescue or shelter? Willing to care for it? We’ll help you network and promote it safely.

“When I was splitting up from my husband, he moved out and I was left with four dogs who didn’t all get along. They were pit bulls, which already automatically evokes a certain response from people in public. After he moved out, I reached out to The Love Pit because they looked like one of the only organizations that could help me. I wasn’t looking for a quick fix—I refused to take the dogs to a shelter and wanted to find the right homes. TLP was absolutely amazing. They marketed for us, connected us with potential adopters, and in the end found perfect matches for the two boys we needed to rehome. Cooper found a home with young kids he adores, and Titus, who had a history of abuse, was matched with a single man who’s given him the stable, loving environment he needed. We keep in touch with their new families, and I’m so thankful for everything the iREHOME program did for us. Without them, I don’t know what we would’ve done.”

Why iREHOME Works
We receive dozens of surrender and found dog requests every week—but our priority is shelter dogs at risk of euthanasia. iREHOME lets us still support you in a way that’s scalable and successful. With strong communication, good photos, and follow-through, rehoming is possible. Many families have done it—you can too.
FAQs
Still have questions? We’ve got answers.
Any pit bull-type dog owner or independent foster with a vaccinated, spayed/neutered dog. Due to the high volume of weekly registrations, we are currently unable to support dogs that are legally registered with another rescue or shelter without prior approval from our leadership team.
We’ve built strong partnerships with some of the most respected professional trainers in the region—experts in everything from dog physcology to balanced and relationship-based training. Our iREHOME team understands the unique needs of bully breeds and can guide you toward the right fit for your dog’s behavior challenges. In many cases, our experienced team members can offer basic training tips and support upfront, and help determine when it’s time to bring in a professional. No matter the need, we’re here to connect you with trusted resources that work.
Our team will respond within 72 hours to walk you through the next steps and answer any questions you might have.
If your dog is behaviorally approved, you may be invited to join select adoption events. You must remain your dog’s handler and maintain full control at all times—for the safety of your dog, the public, and other animals. If event attendance isn’t a good fit due to your dog’s behavior, you may be invited to one of our monthly training meet-ups instead. These gatherings offer a safe, controlled environment to build skills, connect with our team, and work alongside fellow bully breed advocates.
You'll need to submit a completed registration form, recent high-resolution photos, up-to-date vet records, and a detailed bio about your dog. Photos should be clear, well-lit, and show your dog’s face and full body—our team can guide you if you need help with basic photography. Medical records must show proof of vaccinations and a spay/neuter certificate. If your dog is not yet up to date, we can connect you with trusted low-cost veterinary resources to help you get them fixed and current on vaccines. Your dog's bio should include personality traits, training accomplishments, and any behavioral challenges so we can help find the best possible match and set everyone up for success.
You do. As the owner or independent foster, you remain in control throughout the rehoming process. Once your dog is listed, our team will screen all adoption applications and send you any that are approved, along with our professional insights and recommendations based on the applicant’s experience, lifestyle, and home environment. We’ll also provide guidance on next steps—like how to set up a meet and greet, questions to ask potential adopters, and tips for a smooth transition. We’re here to support you, but ultimately, the final decision is yours.
