Volunteering is more than a task—it’s a calling.
At The Love Pit, volunteering means showing up for dogs who’ve been misunderstood, mistreated, and overlooked. It means standing side by side with people who share your heart for rescue. And it means finding a deeper sense of purpose, knowing your time and energy are changing lives every single day.

Local Opportunities
Join our events crew to help plan, set up, and run adoption events, fundraisers, and community outreach activities. You’ll play a big role in getting our dogs seen and celebrated.
Help walk, exercise, and socialize dogs at our Dallas headquarters. This hands-on role is perfect for volunteers who want to build trust and confidence in our adoptable dogs.
Support our foster families with check-ins, resource sharing, and basic training goals. You’ll be the cheerleader and connector that keeps our fosters supported and engaged.
"Being a Foster Coordinator has allowed me to make meaningful connections within the organization, learn more about the inner workings of dog rescue, and most importantly, help our fosters. Our foster program is what enables us to save more dogs! I love TLP and joining as a volunteer was one of the best decisions I ever made! I look forward to many more years of working with dogs and likeminded people with one common goal - SAVE THE PIT BULL”

“I would recommend volunteering with The Love Pit because it feels extremely rewarding to see your hard work pay off when dogs get adopted (no matter what role you have in the organization); it's also a way to have a community outside of your typical social circles with people who share a common passion. Even though I volunteer remotely, I've never felt isolated and always feel like I can depend on the members of my team to help each other out!”

"I first heard of The Love Pit in 2016, when I attended a “story time with dogs” event at our local library. There were several different breeds there, but of course I gravitated towards the pit bull. There are many days where I'm exhausted from work, kids and dogs...but the amount of joy I get from helping other rescue and foster dogs find families keeps me going. I will always be an advocate for the breed and make sure to promote that whenever and wherever possible.”

“I met Aften, TLP’s Founder, years ago at the Truck Yard, when we both had foster pit bulls that we were trying to find homes for. I found myself drawn to fostering and adopting pit bulls. I wanted to make more of a difference for the most loyal breed I’ve ever known, so I decided to join TLP. It feels SO good when you find a dog’s perfect forever home and the adopters are ecstatic and the dog just looks so happy! It’s the best part of volunteering and makes it all worth it. TLP is really a special group of volunteers, and I am grateful to be part of such a dedicated team.”

"The Love Pit has been such an amazing way for me to put my passion for dogs into action and make a difference. These dogs deserve the world and TLP makes sure they get it. I’ve met so many amazing people and have made great friends that all have the same passion - to #SaveThePitbull.”
